Roll on the dawn

There was a follow-up to the end of the last post ‘Ditched’.
It had taken so long to bail Grandpa from the ditch, get warm and dried out, that most of the night had gone. It was 4.30 in the morning, no less, which meant we would have to go and feed the pigs in half an hour. There was just time for me to get out of the remainder of my finery, have a quick breakfast; seven or eight rashers of thick bacon, home grown, six eggs, ditto, fried potatoes, local, most of a loaf, also, and a gallon of tea. Well, it had been a long time since the Christmas turkey, and there would be no sleep till the next night!
